One of the things people can’t believe when I tell them I’ve lost so much weight is how I’ve done it.
Them: You don’t eat?
Me: No.
Them: But, you have to eat.
Alas, I never continue the conversation. It’s really tough to educate someone in a five minute conversation, which is why I’m glad I started this site.
Alternate day fasting is simply not eating every other day. Simple, right? It does two things:
Halves your caloric intake: You’ll be eating half the time, but it’s critical you eat a a normal amount of calories on the day you do eat. On the days you don’t eat you should only drink water, diet soda, etc. No eating of any kind and no drinks with calories.
Halves the amount of money you spend on food: Since you’ll be eating 50% of what you did before, you’re going to save money. While I will force my opinion on you as to which diet is best, it’s important you choose as much minimally processed food as possible.
You thought there was some big, mysterious secret, right? Nada. It’s pretty simple.
What I’m hoping to do for the next year is illustrate, educate and pontificate on how alternate day fasting works, why it works and how you can use it. I have to stress that everything I document, talk about or display is something I have done to myself.
Although I think the medical establishment has their heads in the sand when it comes to obesity and losing weight, I need to add a disclaimer. The disclaimer serves an important purpose in warning you and protecting me.
You are a complete and utter idiot if you do what I list over the next year without talking to a medical doctor. While I’m going to explain things, I might miss something. Heck, I might even be wrong. This might be something that only works for me. Who knows. What I do know is that you owe it to yourself to try to educate yourself as much as possible. Your doctor, while possibly being misguided about nutrition and obesity, is the best place to make that happen.
I need to add that as a link on the bottom of the page.
